STREET DIVISION
The Department of Public Works is responsible for maintaining all of the town's streets by installing/repairing street signs and streetlights, painting crosswalks, repairing potholes, emptying/replacing corner cans and regularly using the mechanical Street Sweeper to assure that our community remains litter-free.
STREETLIGHTS
PEPCO maintains streetlights that are on wooden poles. Call 202-733-7500 to report a street -light that is not working. Have the following information available, pole number, street address and type of pole.
The Department of Public Works is responsible for streetlights on the black metal poles. Please call 301-864-1803 to report lights that are not working/damaged.
SNOW AND ICE REMOVAL
Public Works crews plow and salt town streets and parking lots to clear snow and ice.
What Residents Can Do?
- Whenever possible, move parked cars off the street so that snow plows can remove the snow from the street from curb to curb.
- If off-street parking is not available, park on the even side of the street.
- Be patient during any snow emergency as crews work around the clock to clear the streets.
- Clear sidewalks in front of residence and refrain from depositing snow back on to the roadway (this can potentially cause an accident).
