Tips to Beat the Heat:

  1. Hydrate 💧: Drink plenty of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Avoid alcohol and caffeine.
  2. Stay Indoors 🏠: Remain in air-conditioned spaces as much as possible. If you don’t have AC, visit public places like malls or libraries.
  3. Limit Outdoor Activities 🚶: Avoid strenuous activities during peak heat hours (10 AM - 4 PM).
  4. Dress Appropriately 👕: Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, and light-colored clothing.
  5. Check on Vulnerable Neighbors 🧓: Ensure elderly, young children, and pets are safe and cool.
  6. Never Leave Anyone in a Car 🚗: The temperature inside a parked car can rise rapidly, becoming life-threatening.

Recognize Heat-Related Illnesses:

  • Heat Exhaustion: Heavy sweating, weakness, cold, pale, and clammy skin, nausea or vomiting, muscle cramps.
  • Heat Stroke: High body temperature (above 103°F/39.4°C), hot, red, dry or moist skin, rapid and strong pulse, possible unconsciousness.

If someone is suffering from heat-related illness, move them to a cooler place, use cool cloths or a cool bath, and get medical help if needed.
